The Quiet Build
I am a data platform engineer on an evolutionary and integrative biologist canvas. I spent years studying how living systems adapt, survive, and evolve, by leveraging different domains in biology such as phylogenetics, developmental biology, epigenetics, and computational biology. Then I pivoted into data engineering and infrastructure.
Since then, I started to notice that some problems in data infrastructure (resilience, adaptability, silent failure, redundancy) could be problems that biology solved first.
This is my lab notebook for exploring that intersection.
My Principles When Building
- Quality over hype. Understanding the architecture and mechanisms beneath the tool matters more than the tool itself.
- Problems before solutions. Every project here starts from a real problem I encountered in production.
- Logging process. I document failures and dead ends and how these lead to working code. I think that all implementation can always be improved, and this is where the learning lives.
- Biology as method, not metaphor. My goal is not to make claims like “microservices are like cells” and stopping there. If we manage to go deeper into the actual mechanisms, we might be able to improve infrastructure on a deeper level.
Two Tracks in 2026
Track 1 — Living Infrastructure
An exploration of biological mechanisms applied to data infrastructure design.
I will start from a production problem and test whether evolutionary biology, immunology, and developmental biology can inform us on how we build more adaptive systems.
Track 2 — Family Heritage Platform
A serverless GCP platform to digitize and archive family history. Zero-cost-at-rest architecture, data privacy, AI-assisted exploration of historical records.
